Rangers Second in NHL Value

According to Forbes magazine by way of the NY Post, the New York Rangers are the second-highest team in terms of value. The magazine said the Rangers are worth about $507 million, about $15 million behind the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Montreal Canadiens finished third, valued at about $445 million. According to the report, the New Jersey Devils are valued at $181 million, while the New York Islanders finished 29th, valued at $149 million. Phoenix is last, though a figure was not given.

Forbes went on to say that operating income has fallen 21 percent due to soaring player salaries, and that the average team value is $240 million, a new record. It also found that 18 of the 30 teams are losing money.
