According to a Tweet from John Boruk of CSN, the Bobby Ryan trade talks are heating up and a “trade is imminent.” The front runners, according to Boruk? Your New York Rangers.
The Ducks reached out to the Philadelphia Flyers about a possible trade, but the asking price was too much. According to Boruk, Ducks GM Bob Murray asked for top-prospect Brayden Schenn and James van Riemsdyk , and both were off the table.
Rangers GM Glen Sather has said who the team’s untouchables are, and they include both Derek Stepan and Ryan McDonagh, among others. The player that appears to be in play would be Brandon Dubinsky, who is off to a terrible start after signing a four-year deal with the organization this offseason.
You’d also have to think a top-prospect would be involved, namely Chris Kreider. Some would argue do you stick to the plan and see what Kreider has to offer in the NHL, or do you take the sure thing with Ryan, who has proven himself in the NHL?
Boruk said a deal could be finished by the end of the week. For the Rangers, hopefully it ends as soon as possible because trade rumors like this have a negative effect on the players involved.
