Traverse City Tournament Released

The New York Rangers have officially released the 24-man roster for the team headed to the annual Traverse City prospect tournament.

Forwards: Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, Ryan Bourque, Tommy Grant, Carl Hagelin, Jordan Hickmott, Tayler Jordan, Kale Kerbashian, Shane McColgan, Randy McNaught, J.T. Miller, Michael St. Croix, Christian Thomas, Jason Wilson and Andrew Yogan

Defensemen: Lee Baldwin, Collin Bowman, Peter Ceresnak, Tim Erixon, Dylan McIlrath, Jyri Niemi, Samuel Noreau, Blake Parlett

Goaltenders: Jason Missiaen, Scott Stajcer

According to the Rangers’ website, 19 of the 24 total members of the 2011 squad are currently under contract by the Rangers, while 10 of which are Rangers’ draftees.

The players I’m most looking forward to watching are Christian Thomas, Carl Hagelin, Tim Erixon and Dylan McIlrath. Thomas is one of the few pure goal scorers in the Rangers’ system right now, something the big squad really needs. Hagelin is said to have an opportunity to make it to the NHL this season.

On the back-end, Erixon and McIlrath are the top-two defensemen in the farm system right now. Erixon is said to be NHL ready, so playing against other top-prospects should allow him to strut his stuff for Rangers fans to watch.

The tournament begins Saturday Sept. 10 against the St. Louis Blues, and will be aired on MSG.
