Rangers Re-Sign Michael Sauer

According to the New York Post, the Rangers have re-signed defenseman Michael Sauer to a two-year, $2.5 million deal.

As a rookie, Sauer, 23, scored three goals and 20 points, pretty strong numbers for a defensive-minded, young defenseman.

His biggest goal was the game-winner late in the season in the comeback win over the Boston Bruins, helping the Rangers snag the final playoff spot.

In my opinion, great signing by the Rangers. This kid has taken a while to crack through to the big club, but he was worth the wait. I didn’t see Sauer making the club out of camp last season, and I’m glad I was wrong. He turned into the most solid defenseman on the team behind Marc Staal and Dan Girardi.
