Rangers Home Opener Slated for Oct. 27 Against Leafs

For a second straight season, the New York Rangers will open their home season against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Last season, the Blueshirts were defeated 4-3 in overtime on a goal by Phil Kessel.

The Rangers will open the 2011-12 campaign in Europe, with several exhibition games before the regular season begins Oct. 7 against the Los Angeles Kings in Stockholm, Sweden. The Rangers will also face the Anaheim Ducks.

It’s already shaping up to be a pretty interesting season for the Rangers. They open the season over-seas, then go on a lengthy road trip through what is rumored to be Western Europe (possibly a game against the new Winnipeg team?) Then, HBO will join the team around early November and begin filming for the Jan. 2 Winter Classic game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
